Not having a lathe myself ,I was more than pleased when Neil said he would call in ,but I`m sure it was the chocolate that swayed his decision , he actually went to both of them.It was great watching him work on the pen and grinder and if I do decide to invest in a lathe I`ve picked up some handy tips .Thanks for that Neil.I`ll post some extra pics here so that more people would get a chance to view them. His trailer definitely looked heavier as it was going out the gate ,[could have been the chocolate].

Thanks to DusteEater and his wife for the hospitality. I swear if i spent every day milling out there on just the sheoak it would take me years on just the dead ones.
Next stop was Busselton, just overnight, so I could go on the train out along the pier (2.1km long) to the observation centre at the end. It is a multi level structure under the pier withv windows into the sea.

Then I visited the local wood turning club and stayed there for hours talking to the members before heading off to south of Mandurah calling in on BlackbuttWA (Col). He and HazzaB (Harry) had kindly organised a dinner that night at the club with wives and another forumite (sorry forgotten who , and no photos ). Today I went to the markets with HazzaB and BlackbuttWA where they sell their stuff and promote their club. A lovely spot right on the bay of Mandurah in a park, light showers to start with, but ended up being a beautiful sunny day.
Long day, their markets go from 8am to 4pm. so with set-up and pack-up that's a really big effort for them. The last photo is the welcome we got as we came home from the local frogs in Col's pond .

Tomorrow I will probably head off again, but not too far away, still to the south of Perth.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Sounds like you're still having a ball mate. With all that talk of chocky I'm glad Pam bought me some today. Hopefully she'll bring home the new bandsaw blade tonight. Gotta get out in the garden and spruce it up a bit. The chick doin' our new web page for Bush Haven Cottages is coming out on Mon. to take Pics. Keep smilin'.Cutie.gif

Kicking back at Mandurah riding the bike around and throwing in the line here and there. Here now till 7th, my daughter is coming down to camp with me, then head to Perth to stay at farm stay, near where my daughter lives, that has just 4 powered caravan spots really cheap for a few weeks.
Still negotiating with council on the shed , yet to finish report on CampOut (the get together of my camper types), plus finish submission to IE Aust on my favourite car certifier. I'm having trouble getting into the latter two, especially whilst getting run around on first one
Also arranging visits to various ForumitesNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Great to meet up mate . Love those multi coloured blanks you make, but you are safe from any competition from me, I'll leave it to those whom have the knack.
The samples are mainly from DustEater, I have passed out a large box worth for him. There were also a few little bits from me scrounging at 'sNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Been catching up with my daughter and quite a few forumites around Perth lately .
When I caught up with Willy Nelson he took me on a personal tour of the Garden Island Navy Base, where I was also lucky enough to get a tour of the outer tip with the local National Parks Ranger (even Willy hadn't been there). Great views of pristine beaches and diving spots normally accessible by boat only.

I have also taken all the excess timber I have collected along the way to send back to the GC, including a few logs of Rottnest Island Tea Tree, Jam plus heaps of Jarrah Burl I swapped for some Qld timbers with Willy . All up ~0.5t on a wrapped pallet and HazzaB organised transport on a backload for just a few cartons

Unfortunately my shoulder has also been giving me problems, lifting too heavy timbers , so may need to rethink plans. Frozen shoulder with 2 torn tendons is the verdict, currently treated with cortisone but op may be necessary if it doesn't settle down. No point heading north for fishing and diving, as I can't swim nor wind a reel at the moment, if the shoulder doesn't come goodNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
