Thanks for the "catch up" Neil. That has to be one of the best places for scenery in Australia. I went through there in the early 70s, been hoping to go back for another look for years. That TV program Coast has been featuring the coastline of Aus the last few weeks. It sure does give me itchy feet. When we were at the 12 Apostles in the 70s I took some photos of "London Bridge" formation but they said on the program that the arch collapsed only a couple of years ago.
I hope you are not experiencing the heat that we have here. 40°C. Not very pleasant in doors but having to camp.....Tamworth is being over run by Country Music devotees. I feel sorry for them having to stand in the heat to listen to the talent that is here.
Keep us posted, and safe travelJust do it!
Kind regards Rod

Speaking of the Apostles, saw them today, and I am now at Warrnambul CP. Some more photos, including the collapsed London Bridge, although it has a new bridge.

The Apostles are minus a few since the 70ies, not sure last count was 8 or 9??, the London Bridge fell down quite a few years ago, there were a couple stranded out when the bridge fell, a wait for several hours before a helicopter could rescue them. Great Ocean Road, one of the best drives in Australia, except for the motorbikes at the weekends. Cheers John.

Also, as I was bored last night with no reception and it was a bit cool, so I decided to cook up a batch of muffins and really put the oven/microwave/grill to the test. 4 are in the fridge and 4 in the freezer for next week (or tomorrow )

This is an amazing piece of country, Has to be one of the most scenic drives anywhere in the world.
My recollection is that London Bridge fell down not long after Susan and I were there in about late 1988.
PS: Google check says that it collapsed on 15 Jan 1990regards

The lighthouse looks familiar to me, if I was there it would have been over 25 years ago.

Down on the GOR some other good campsites are Johanna Beach and Aire River (East and West).
Port Fairy is worth a visit. A bit touristy but the history is interesting.
Further on is Mt Gambier. The sinkholes (dry and wet) look stunning. We were going to snorkle in one but Helen got crook.
Further round the coast ...
We loved Robe and surrounds. Sea Vue CP if I recall in Robe itself. (Though we had to pack up at 3am on our last day due to high winds). Coorong bush camps were a bit ordinary IMO. We liked Galwa CP and did a boat cruise on the Coorong and that was a highlight.Cheers, Ern

Check out the website; I fear you may need a permit. Piccaninnie Ponds Conservation Park - Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR)
We'd just laid in ordinary swimming pool goggles.
I don't think you need much 'diving' ability to enjoy it.Cheers, Ern

Well the muffins are finally gone, even surprised myself how long they lasted
Anyway, I'm at Portland at the moment. I was going to do some more fishing, but at $250 for a half day, decided buying fresh fish from the local munger was easier and cheaper. Did quite a few of the touristy things, trams/museums/historic stuff etc, plus enjoyed some sights. Attached are a few distance shots, sorry about quality, the phone is only so good . Wind farm, Portland from the distance, the main port wharf, plus an interesting way of unloading B-double sized trucked full of wood chip (there was actually 2 tilt ramps), large stack of timber (mainly just pine by the look of it),.

Bit of confirmation for the guys (and girls) at the Jerilderie Get Together. Is that truck think on purpose. We can't quite make it out on the phone.
says he'll check it out when he gets on his camper but that could be a while yet.

Forgot that was on this weekend, how' it going, I assume someone will start a thread in woodies events.
The truck, yes on purpose, the truck drives on the ramp bridge, then the bridge tilts to empty it, quick and simple. There is a second truck on the other bridge waiting to be lifted. Each lift takes only a few minutes.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
