    It's a good area where you are staying with lots of high end shops.

    If you get bored, the Ferrari store is only a few hundred meters from where you are staying.

    I always had poor luck buying clothes or shoes in the right size in China (~6ft tall) so I pretty much gave up trying stuff on. Brand name stuff was also way too expensive this time around. The exchange rate is a bit poor right now and brand names were generally more expensive than Australian stores by quite a bit.

    you may want to take that "walking distance" with a grain of salt and carry a packed lunch for the walk

    When I was in Shanghai, we took taxis nearly everywhere. They were ridiculously cheap. Just get the hotel staff to write out your desired destinations for the day and point out the chosen one to the taxi driver.

    Tiananmen Square is surprisingly close to the Hotel - I did the walk with a bad back.
