    Default Singapore accommodation recommendations?

We need 2 rooms for 4 nights in June, value for money, not too cramped, not to far from the action.

Gina has searched Air BNB & the Hotels but no luck.

We put in a couple of requests on Air BNB & had one rejected & one cancelled a couple of days after being booked, no reason given but we suspect that there must be something on at the time we want to be there.

    Cliff,

One of the lesser known hotel room style accommodation options in Singapore is to stay at the YMCA International House at 1 Orchard Road. It's located at the northern end of the Orchard Road shopping area, so is quite conveniently located. YMCA in Singapore have a long history of running Hotel Style accommodation. I first used them in the early 1980's when I was living in Malaysia, and have been back a few times since. The 1 Orchard Road building is the newest of their accommodation offering. They have other options, but the other options are located away from the CBD and are not so convenient.

The list prices on their web site are just that - list prices. The best approach is to phone them, and make a booking enquiry. You'll usually (except in very busy peak periods) be able to negotiate a good deal. In the past, I've often paid less than 50% of the typical 4 star room price in Singapore by using one of the YMCA's accommodation options.

Being as the place is run by the YMCA, there are a few differences when compared with normal Hotel Accommodation, with the main one being that there's no grog served on the premises, so you'll have to wander down the street to one of the numerous bars to have a drink. And it's not just accommodation for young men - they cater to everyone.

    Hope that info is useful.
