    Default Delta sharpening machines and their copies

    Ok So I am trying to locate one of these, Sharpening Center 23-710 - FineWoodworking or similar machine as an alternative to a Tormek style system as it will have the space to do larger tools and will allow me to sharpen Japanese tools with a flat bevel. As well as having the dry wheel for initial grinding standard bench planes and chisels.

    I am also looking at a Delta 23-700 whetstone grinder or similar for European tools. Sharpening Center 23-700 - FineWoodworking. I have see a few Chinese copies of this known as the Viking grinder as I have seen Leda do one but looking at one with a decent tool rest.

    So does anyone know where to get one is Aus? Who stocks Delta machinery now I know ages ago Cabratec used to.

    As far as I know, Delta disappeared from the Aussie scene altogether when Carbatec lost interest and wandered off - a pity, as they made some reasonable kit.

    You could almost certainly source a Delta 23-700 from the UK (thereby getting the correct voltage), but freight would be a killer. Apparently these beasts weigh ~20kg. For local purchase of something like this, Chinese copies may be the only option.....

    Yeah that's the impression I got too that they were no longer in the Aussie market. Which is a shame as I agree they did some good kit.
