Well I'm happy. I've gone through all my chisels and got them nice and sharp including a couple of $1 garage sale Stanley's which were in horrible shape when I got them. Probably my favourites now!
Picked up an Extra Coarse DMT plate as well for occasional upkeep on the stones and more aggressive metal removal. First time in the Carbatec WA store since they went under the national brand and the place looks great. Very happy with the DMT, made short work of re-establishing the bevel on those Stanley chisels.
Thanks to elanjacobs, Ian and derekcohen for all your help. I really appreciate it!

Bueller, who did you buy the shapton stones from? Past posts recommended Stu and his prices look good compared to some of the other suppliers.
Cheers

I found this on one of my searches. The price seems pretty good

Oh and if you get the ones from the shave shed then search around for a coupon code from Badger and Blade forums, gets you 15% off.

Thanks guys,
justone thing- those prices are good. Was looking at "toolsfromjapan" and your link is only slightly more, so should work out the same with freight added in
bueller - shave Shed only has 2000 and 12000 on their site. Couldn't find stones on the shave shop?
