Yeah, wasn't sure how to do it it reverse, so trial & error gets me there.

in cell A2 put =sin(radians(A1)) (degrees have to be converted to radians for excel to be able to work them)

Then just play with the value in A1 until it gives a close match to the 0.1 cell.
Well, there's a problem Houston. After error and trial a single bevel turns out to be c 15°.

Anyway, going down to 25 microns produced an improvement on previous efforts but not like new. Down to c 1 micron got the tick.

Read into it whatever you want. You could just as easily have ignored it if you didn't like what I said.

    I'm out.

You give someone an answer to a question you think they should have asked, not the one they did ask, and presumably you think it's a better thing to be thinking about.
Does that often work well for you?

Meaning the included angle is 30°? That's HUGE!

Anyway, sounds like you have a result?

If you put your 0.1 (0.15/1.5) in A1 and =DEGREES(ASIN(A1)) in A2 you’ll get the answer (which is 5.74°) without having to do the trial and error.

    A. Can you not buy a digital swing-arm protractor for under $20 that reads to 0.1 degree?
Mine works in less time than it takes to open a beer. Stupidly simple devices, even the analog ones.
    B. I just bought a Kestrel Tool Sitka adze blade. It isn't sharp. I don't care what the existing bevel angle is.
I won't even measure it (as usual) and that puppy will be 25 degrees when I haft it into a handle.

I had tried an assortment of devices inc as mentioned caliper legs.
There's all of 1.5mm of bevel for them to rest on.
    Not accurate.
