Default Anyone got a sawblade sharpener and like to comment

    Hi,
I have been thinking about getting this.
Circular Saw Blade Sharpener suitable HSS & Tungsten | eBay
The pile of old blades is growing so I would like to be able to sharpen them. Just wanted to hear from anyone if this kind of sharpener does the job.
    Regards
    John

Check out the one sold by Timbecon.au
Around $380 Our Men's shed has just purchased one and are organiing a training program for members
Previously had the cheaper one similar to what you are looking at but feel the extra dollars are worth it.

    Hi DJ,
The Timbecon machine does look good but a bit on the exy side for the limited use it would get at my place. I was looking for info on the cheap ebay job to see if it is worth getting. If it does a reasonable job that will do me. After all it only costs about the price of a blade.

You might want to look at this video as well before committing. This is definitely the same machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gs8azZf69pk

There are a few other youtube videos on this and similar machines.

I wonder ... the blade is clamped with a spring rather than a washer (which is better). The blade housing is a different colour. Is the spring version a later model?

They're both clamped with a spring and a washer. The one I've linked to has an additional washer inserted in the blade holding mechanism, but apart from that they appear to be identical. I just thought it would be good to review all the information out there before purchase. There is an update on the video Chris Parks posted here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liZLJrFseyY - and videos of the same/other sharpeners as well.

I have been looking at a lot of youtube clips and there are plenty of ways to do it if the tooth face is 90* but it needs an adjustable jig for angled face teeth. I have decided to get the ebay machine as cost wise it is about a blades worth and to build a jig and find a blade for it would likely be getting up there also.
I'll post on how it turns out.
    Regards
    John
