Yes Tungsten Carbide. No TC will gums up your wheel, and can damage the CBN coating, TC should only be sharpened on diamond.

CBN can be used to touch up TC in a DIY situation but it's not recommend this is done in a production situation because of increased wear.
Diamond wheels are so cheap and can be readily mounted on the side of a CBN wheel so I don't see a need to use CBN for TC.

To de-gum your CBN wheel just lightly grind some HSS on it.

The gospel like arguments for, diamond not being not suitable for steel, and CBN not suitable for TC seems to be unravelling.
Diamond cutting wheels for cutting steel are now available in Bunnings see Metal Cutting Disks
CBN tool inserts are now being used to turn TC stock!
For production grinding of Steel and TC materials there are now combination CBN and diamond wheels (CDX wheels).
