    Default Temtool chisel sharpener

    Hello all.
I have a friend with had one of these australian made machines.
    It is no longer made.
The grinding and honing wheels are getting very tired.
Can any body help with, where i can get new wheels to fit this machine.
Or even anybody that has an old complete machine.
Instructions or specs may even be useful in searching for new wheels.
    regards
    dave

As China said...remove the wheel..it may be a 75mm...if so, you should be able to get them HERE

OR email The Sandpaper Man ..sponsor on this forum...and he may be able to source them for you.

You may be able to dress the grind wheel, if there's enough meat left, with a carborundum stick.

The honing wheel you might try to clean with a rag and turps, with repeated applications. Then recharge.

Let us know how you go.
    Cheers, Ern

Hop someone is still following this thread and can give me so help.

I have a Temtool sharpener but have forgoten where I got it from. It came as old and second hand without any manuals etc. I've used it a bit to hollow grind chisels but I'm now trying to improve my skills with this and realise I have been setting the angles all wrong. If you line up the chisel blade with the guide lines on the unit 25 degrees ends up more like 40 degrees.

Have anyone worked out how to use the guides? Do you set the base plate to the guide?

Apart from that it does a reasonable job. I did replace the wheel when I got it years ago and found a Norton's wheel from a sharpening shop to fit. The arbor and spacer needed packing with a slips of paper but ended up OK.

    Cheers David

I have just obtained a diamond dressing tool and trued the wheel, although, it still a bit rough as the arbour is the wrong size and my paper shims cant fully correct this. After lots of experimenting yesterday I've concluded that the original wheel must have been 5" and the replacement is only 4 1/2". So the guide lines are a bit out. If I set a chisel on 15degrees by the Temtool scale it ends pretty close to 25. Now when I place it in the honing guide at 40mm all is good.

Amazing how confused you can get with angles. Took myself and a fairly experienced neighbour some hours to sort this out. Now to improve my skills on the new diamond plate. Maybe dream of buying a CBN wheel and guide.
