    Default thicknesser blade stock

    Hi,

I put a couple of nails through the thicknesser --OOOPS!
Does anyone have some advice on where to get new ones made in melbourne as a spare set.
I used to go to a place in melbourne east that did but cant remember therir name or where it is. Think it was Mt Waverly - just gave them the size and type of steel and it was made from stock.

Anyway, if you can advise me of ANY place that would be good.
Did a search but came up none the wiser.

    Steve

    Timber Tools in Bayswater

    Jalor Tools in Knoxfield

Are 2 off the top of me head, both will supply any type and size for thicknessing.

    Default Thicknesser blades

    Steve,

Surely a businesss selling the brand you own would sell replacement blades. Some blades bolt on to the holder and others are clamped. The first type require holes to match and would be specially made. I can buy 13" 2 sided blades for my Hafco for $55.00 a pair. The second type are just cut to length/thickness and should be available from both the retailer of the machine or a specialist saw/knife sharpening business. My Carbatec 15" blades with 18% tungston cost $109.00 for a set of 3 blades from Carbatec.
It is also possible to get them sharpened. If they are the bolt on types this may not be a successfull option because too much of the blade could be ground off and then they will not cut/touch the timber. From my experience the clamped blades are from machines that provide for adjustment to the blades as they wear and this would be a viable option.

    Thanks DJ

    Whitewood.

Im absolutely sure they do sell them.
Why pay more for lower quality ones though?
I realise i can get my current ones sharpenned, thats why i said i wanted a spare set, so if it happens again i can swap them out and continue.
They are clamp in type , i already have them out of the machine. Thanks for your help.

    Regards

    Steve
