Tormek T3 v T7
Afternoon all.
I am thinking about the silly season an the mind drifts along to filling my stocking. I am contemplating an order for a Tormek machine but don't know whether I should splurge on the T7 or if the T3 would be adequate. I don't want to save $300 and regret it for ever after.
Any advice?
Cheers,
Virg.

The T3 are good machines but the extras you get make the T7 better.
You have a 10" wheel, Diamond dresser, stone grader and the square tool jig, now these extras dont add up to the same difference but you also have the advantage if you want to get the silicon wheel or the very fine wheel as they are only available for the 10" T7.
Also a stronger motor with a better duty cycle.Jim Carroll

Jim, one supplier mentions the straight edge jig and the Angle Master as being part of the T3 package.
My impression is that the T3 should be fine for hobby users. The T7 is an industrial strength machine.Cheers, Ern

Correction ... having read up on the T3, Tormek recommend that turners using HSS steel go for the T7. Presumably a question of grunt.
Also as best I can make out the T3 doesn't allow you to use the universal mount and jigs on the honing wheel.Cheers, Ern
