Tormek T7 Vs one way wolverine/ Woodcut true grind system
Hi all,
I am looking at buying a new sharpening system for my wood turning tools. I have been looking at the Tormek T7 and the Wolverine/trugrind system and would like your thoughts on which one I should buy and why.
I have been using a mates Tormek T2000 and I find that it leaves a razor sharp edge but it is very slow. I have not used a wolverine or true grind system, but I have heard read some good reviews. If I purchased the wolverine or true grind system I would also purchase a half speed grinder with CBN wheels.
Could you please share your thought on what I should get, remembering it will only be used for wood turning tools.
Thank you

I recently faced the same choice that you are facing. I went with the Wolverine jig with a half speed Creusen grinder, and am happy with my choice. The Creusen came with pretty decent grinding wheels, and while a CBN wheel is still the plan, I'm using the standard ones up first.
Of course, I have no way of knowing how I'd feel if I had bought the Tormek.

The Tormek is no slower than using a spark grinder.
The slow part is where you are reshaping.
Once the tools are shaped the time taken to sharpen is the same on the tormek and the Vicmarc slow speed spark grinder.
There is pluses and minuses for all systems, if you are happy with the tormek stick with that.
You have to remember that the tormek wheel is 220g and the finest spark grinders are 120g.
The CBN option gives you a 280g wheel for the T7 tormek and 180g for the spark grinderJim Carroll
