Default where are all the 190x30 blades?

Trying to find a new blade for my old bosch circular saw at 190x30 and finding impossible. I can only find two listed in this country - Dewalt and Hilti. https://www.hilti.com.au/insert-tool...blades/2037955 and http://www.kltoolsaustralia.com/dewa...-30-x-18t.html

Anyone any experience with these two? I was interested in a Freud but can't even find 190x30 on their website, although I know they do one as I can get one out of the UK. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141242216...84.m1438.l2649

I just thought there'd be more choice in this size as you can buy the saws here... Carbatec doesn't list, none on ebay, none in any of the normal places in fact. What are others here doing when they need a 190x30 saw blade?

A simple search of fleabay "saw blade 190 30" revealed 78 entries on the default setting & 224 on the worldwide setting.

    Try again. They're out there!

not sure what's happening then - when I copy your search I get 1 result in australia - a $62 (plus $15 P&P) blade. Worldwide I get the 225 results but they're all going to take ages to come in... Only one I can find on ebay au is the BGS one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BGS-Germa...item1c17985338 which I'd consider if I knew it was a good one. Trying to get info on them is hard as well, seems like they're asian and no reports on quality. I'd pay that much if it was definitely a good blade

They're all in the UK apart from the festool one mentioned earlier - so it really does seem like pretty much none in aus...

It might be worth contacting Bosch Australia and asking them.

I would've thought that metric blade sizes were becoming the norm now. It's only what 50 odd years since we moved out of the dark ages (14th Feb 1966)?

I remember years ago having to jump through all sorts of hoops just to get a 30mm arbor hole for a 10" Radial Arm Saw. Finally had to settle on a positive hook angle blade or nothing, after losing 2 teeth from the original blade.

I have Metabo's catalogue online: they have plenty of types.

    6.28005 190 x 2.2 x 30 14t 25 deg.
    6.28006 190 x 2.2 x 30 16t 12 deg.
    6.28035 190 x 2.2 x 30 48t 15 deg.
    6.28075 190 x 2.2 x 30 36t 5 deg.
    6.28077 190 x 2.2 x 30 56t 8 deg.

It's the same size as the KS66, current model sold in Oz., so they should have stocks available ex Melb. warehouse (Scoresby).

You can call direct to Parts on 1800 638 226 on Monday.

They won't sell direct, but will give advice & tell you where to order. Depending where you live, you could have a new blade inside 24 hrs.

I have no affiliation with the company: just a satisfied customer. Having found good service, I generally support them.

I WAS going to be a clever-dick & looked up the Bosch parts catalogue for their range of blades. Firstly, to try to be impartial, and secondly, as your saw is Bosch anyway it just made sense to do so.

Bugger me if they don't have ANY in your nominated size. Not one, nada, zilch!

Shame on you Bosch for not supporting your customers with parts! Don't expect me to buy your products again.

Other mnfrs. (Festo & Metabo at least) have a published policy of supporting their products with guaranteed parts availability for at least 10 years after the particular tool is discontinued. Consider that next time!

That's great thanks! Didn't think about Metabo, just can't believe bosch don't offer... Also have a bosch blade on my shopsmith, it's an optiline and am liking it so far.

How to metabo blades rate against say freud? I know metabo make (or certainly made) very good tools but are their blades just a rebranded cheapo or are they good quality? They don't show a price, does anyone know the ball park on a 190x30 16T powercut?

I was considering a 185mm blade and boring the centre out on the lathe but I really don't want to lose any depth of cut, even a few mm. Could do this to a 200mm, I reckon it would fit. Not to mention the hassle though, it's irritating not being able to find one...

    Freud is Bosch I believe.

    Same company, different factory.

My saws are (these days) more common sizes, so I generally go aftermarket for blades.

305 x 25 blades I generally get from the USA, because 30mm is the common arbor for these saws (negative rake mitre) in Australia, 25mm in USA. I can get really good quality Amana, Oldham or Freud blades for about $100 or so + freight for say a 96-100t blade. Not cheap, but excellent quality. Amana is German, Oldham American, & Freud out of Italy.

254 x 30 negative rake is now mercifully available much more readily here. I've used Metabo's Multimaterial blade with good results, and Trend are a reliable alternative too. Unlike you I'm happy to shop offshore, and have found excellent service and prompt delivery from foreign e-tailers. I once bought a 36v cordless lawnmower, chainsaw and SDS hammer outfit for less than $1000 (less than the price of the SDS drill locally) including freight. They arrived in 5 days (including a weekend) from Scotland!!! I'd be lucky to get that kind of service within Tasmania!

165 x 20 blades for the plunge saw & 36v cordless are available everywhere. I've used Makita blue, Bosch Speedline & Metabo Multimaterial blades with success. The latter has probably the smoothest but slowest cut in solid hardwood on the rail.

But it's hard to give a recommendation on what blades are better as there's so many variables involved. Material, speed, cleanliness and standard of finish required, plus one's own expectations. Only very high tooth count blades on the drop saw would give a standard of crosscut, for example, that doesn't require additional finishing of any sort, and only then if cutting slowly and deliberately.

Well next time I buy a saw it won't take obscure blades... And I'm not against buying overseas at all, I realise all its massive benefits. It's just right this moment I don't have the money for a blade, and when I do (when I get paid...) I'll want it ASAP. In my experience everything coming from the US or Europe takes three weeks, sometimes a bit less and one I too got one in a week - amazing. But normally three weeks. If I could get a local one, or at least one posted in Au it will almost definitely be here much quicker.

But that seems to hard for everyone round here... I'll try metabo and that good looking henry bros lot though

Well Henry Bros don't have them either. But the metabo lead worked well - now have a 190x30 14T negative rake metabo blade coming into my tamworth supplier by thursday, so should see it friday. Got it for $32+, not too bad I reckon. Wasn't sure about it being negative rake but called metabo and that's what they recommend for hardwood so there we go...
