well i never said it was unworkable, dale, i just said it wasnt for me, but not to worry, im not offended in any way, one thing ive learned mainly from being a member of this forum is that we all have our own ways of doing things and nothing is "one size fits all".

hopefully i will have my cyclone and dusty set up next week and can move into full production

ok here it comes, confession time....

I have a few months ago sold my GMC thicknesser and was planning to buy something a bit better, but at this price I ended up buying another one today

Oh well, I have no space for real machinery anyway (but I have to say, those sheppach combos look good). Provided it isnt raining on saturday, I am planning to annoy the *&^* out of my neighbours thicknessing all timber within 1km of home

Thanks a lot for the info about connecting one of these into a 2" hose Dalejw. The pic and detail is appreciated.
I think Stuart and Doug have a valid point - 4" would be better - but knowing it's possible is a great help. My situation is not quite an apartment courtyard, but not a lot better so some form of dust collection will be better than none.

Picked my dust chute up from Hare & Forbes at Archerfield today and they asked for $29 thanks. I told them Felixe had bought one earlier in week for $25 off Grant and they said $25 would be fine so thanks again for mentioning this Felixe. Sometimes it is not what you know, but who!

Its funny watching how all of this has developed from my comment that the chute is available from H&F. Must tell Matty Forbes about what I started.

Just amazing how well this forum works for things like that.

The Fiora machinery guys in Perth are not at all happy about selling dust chutes for gear that hasn't been bought from them. He was getting pretty grumpy when I picked up mine.

    What dipsticks.

What the #### is wrong with people these days?

What happens when you go into their store to buy an accessory for something they didn't originally sell? They still get some money despite the fact that you purchased elsewhere. They get you into their shop, where you may make other purchases, or see some things that you may want to buy later. You form opinions of them, and their customer service that may influence the purchase of a big ticket item later.

But in this case, you get a negative customer service experience, regret visiting their shop, get out of there asap, don't have any expectations of going back, and may shop elsewhere in future.

    Dipsticks.

That's what I reckon. The simple fact is I'd never even heard of Fiora machinery until then and have now spent half an hour in the shop and have a catalogue sitting on my shelf.

Some people call this MARKETING which you usually have to pay for... in this case he got a sale and free marketing.

    Weird huh?

G'day. Just ran my first test on the GMC with the dust chute now attached. Connected it to my FM300 2hp extractor. Excellent dust/chip extraction.
Need to investgate further as I heard a clunk as if some metal object was sucked in by the FM300 . The test ran fine after this. Hope no parts are missing. The finish on a piece of Euro Beech was very good.
    Regards
    Les

Whatever part went 'missing' was obviously not needed
