Default 235mm (91/4) saw blade for hardwood with nails

    Hi,
Pretty new here, but have searched this topic and have not found anything. I called in to Carbatec Sydney to buy a blade for my saw that can handle nails in hardwood. They had nothing!
At the moment sparks are spewing out of the brushes due to the load on a blunt blade.
can anyone advise on a suitable blade for my saw?
    any advise appriciated
    cheers,
    Mark

Flai Mustang blades will do the job. I think Carroll's might sell them.

    Yes, here we go:

    but it's 230mm.

C'tec must have dropped them because that's where i bought mine.

Just go to any decent hardware store, not the green or blue, or a tool supplier and ask for a cold saw blade. They are made for metal and if you have a makita saw, they will have the correct blade for it.

I know that Diablo does a 7 1/2" demolition saw blade. Not sure if they do a 9 1/4". I bought mine at the big green shed..

I am pretty certain they don't make a 235mm (9 1/4") as I have looked for that in the past. Diablo I think is made by Bosch.

How do the cold saw blades go on a hand held saw as they are normally slow speed (you can virtually count the revolutions) and designed for use with lubricant? I suspect they are quite expensive too.

Admittedly you are only looking at occassional contact with metal, but does that mean the timber cutting ability is below par?

Makita make a cold saw very similar to a normal hand circular saw but with a safety guard that captures all the metal dust and they spin at the same speed as a normal circular saw. I have one and they are great. May have misled you with terminology, not a true cold saw in the true sense. They are great for metal roofing, C purlins, steel up to 6mm thick. You can use the blades in a normal circ saw but beware the metal dust and particles.

I think the OP is after a blade like this one from Makita

Yep but the one I refer to is more for metal only as opposed to the one above but it will also cut wood all be it not as well as the one shown

    Default Massive Thanks Men

Big Thanks for all the help!
I ended up picking up the Mustang blade from the boys at VEK tools in Artarmon (Sydney) with a reasonable discount. They had a few option and where very helpful. Quiet the tool store too
