Lola,
I had the Carbatec 6" jointer until I traded it in for their 8" jointer 2 months ago. That is the one on special at the moment for $399. I got great results with it, but needed the wider one. It is a great buy at the price.
Regards
Les

I have had the carbatec 6" jioter for about 12 months.
I bought the carbatec because of the fence arrangement. I have had a good run with it.
Don't forget to buy a second set of blades. Get the tungsten enriched blades, especially if you are machining 30yr old jarrah.
As with all of these tools the blades can make a difference. Get your blades back beveled and the quality of cut will be greatly enhanced.
I have only had the occasion where a 8" planner would have been nice, but it was heaps more $$$
