Air Powered Nail Gun
Hi
I bought a 2.5HP compressor last weekend and am now wondering what nail gun to buy for it.
I want to use it for woodwork and putting together shelving and similar projects etc.
Went to Bunnings tonight and there are a few different types but I do not know which one is the most suitable.
I wasn't going to ask the 15 year old serving either )

Generally, for light weight construction an 18, 16 or 15 gauge brad nailer - but it really does depend on what you want to build. 15 gauge is in the realm of skirting and door sills, while 16 and 18 gauge is more for drawer carcases or similar small stuff.
Have a look at the nails and see what size you want to use!!

I would suggest a C Series brad nailer - fairly standard tool for cabinet makers. The nail heads are pretty small and unobtrusive, but the holding power is quite strong.
Bunnies should have one something like these
Smaller versions fire 18 gauge 10-32mm nails and larger versions 19-50mm nails."If something is really worth doing, it is worth doing badly." - GK Chesterton

Supercheap Auto sell those as well, I have one and it does a good job. They often have them on special.
I also have the equivalent staple gun, also very useful.
In fact there are a lot of useful air tools. Have just completed a job using 200 3/16 x 6mm pop rivets, using a (Supercheap) air powered pop rivet gun, magic. Try doing that with a hand pop rivet gun

Definitely agree with the C-series, Airco do a good one that will take 38-60mm brads and will happily fire all day in chipboard to hardwood. It has an adjuster for depth as well so you can have flush or countersunk heads.

I just picked up a Senco nail gun kit:
Finish Pro 35,
Finish Pro15,
SLS 15 Stapler
All in a rolling case for $326 delivered from the US, I can provide a link if anyone is interested.

Hi, for whatever reason I never bought one but I am going to tomorrow.
Another question....after ripping out my old wardrobe last night I have noticed how they attached the shelf supports to the internal brick wall......they used some big #### staples.
What kind of air gun would have been used to do this?
cheers

Probably 1/4" crown stables. I have a stable gun for these and it shoots 1" stables into almost anything!

Do you mean staples?
Can you point me in the direction of a staple gun that could attach very leightweight timber to an internal brick wall.
Timber is probbaly only 20 mm thick.
Cheers
