Turns out Makita don't make a corded brushless angle grinder. How odd is that!
Makita are a relatively conservative company and I can understand why they might not go down that pathway, yet.

The benefits of brushless technology include lower power consumption and never needing to replace brushes. The power issue is significant in cordless but much less of an issue in corded drills where an endless supply of power is available via the cord. Unless you are a tradie that uses an angle grinder daily, brush replacement has become an almost non-existent issue. I have only ever replaced the brushes on an angle grinder and that was a 10 year old Ozioto that I used to cut a heap of paving bricks. Even then the brushes were not worn out, one had chipped and was not making good contact.

Another (abit late though) vote for Metabo - you do not need any spanners to change the discs! I cannot find exact model as mine (mine is old), but there is a fair few 5" Metabos with different powers that have quick disk change without spanners. E.g.: https://www.totaltools.com.au/98898-...grinder-w9125q

Look, there is 11 models of 5" ones: https://sydneytools.com.au/by-brand/...ngle_grinders/

The 125mm 5" Grinders are the go

Ive burnt all of them out over the years [ex welder] The weakest 9inch is the Metabo [Ive burnt out 2 of these]

Dewalt and Makita make some iconic 5 inch models sought after in heavy industry the boss swore by Hitachi and i never seen any of them fail on the job one of the few i havent managed to burn out

IF you can try to get a model thats easy to maintain All will do what your looking for but the pick of the bunch for me are the variable speed models they add another level of control and flex the last one i went with was the Bosch and it continues to serve me well

I only use cordless for feathering or super light tasks that said I think you get a lot more bang from the modern modern batteries that may make them more useful

    Regards Lou
