Arc Welders
G'day Lads,
Im thinking of getting a portable arc welder to do the occasional repair or project. but ive never done arc welding before, only mig, so im unsure what to look for in a welder, Ive been looking into Cigweld compact 2 Turbo electric arc welder for $285, i want to get a welder with a 10A input lead, so i can just run a lead out to wherever im working. What do you fellas think? Can you suggest any other welders?
Cheers
Falz

Have a look at this thread.
It should answer some of your questions.

I have had a CIG stick welder for about 15 yrs. It just goes on and on, despite having been in a flood once.
Can't comment on the type you need, but unless they've dropped the quality, CIG is pretty robust and reliable.Bodgy

I've got one of the cigweld turbo jobs. Works well, haven't had any problems yet. Just make sure that you get one that has a fan in it. The ones with just a heatsink overheat too quicky and shut off at the most inoportune moments.
