Default Bench mounting a biscuit joiner

I want to get my class at school to use a biscuit jointer.
I was wondering if anyone has come across a jig to bench mount it so they can't do too much wrong.

There are 4mm router cutters that do the same job and routers can of course be bench mounted. Wofcraft built a drill powered jig in the 70s that coult be used freehand and then slotted quickly into a bench mount but they aren't exactly thick on the ground these days...

Problem with stationary bickie jointer would be the plunge action. The blades bite if not guided smoothly and it's unlikely that students will keep the workpiece correctly positioned.

Advise using the tool as designed.

Use a router with a biscuit wheel.

About 10 years ago I built a copy of the Triton biscuit fence for my router table. I used angle aluminium. It pivots on a bolt at one end.

Chris, please please don't attempt this

    1) it's much more dangerous as the blade is exposed not "protected" by the fence

    2) making a jig, like Katz's, puts you in the position of "manufacturer" and therefore liable for any accidents that occur

    3) the kids will find lots of ways to do lot's of wrong things with a bench mounted biscuit jointer

    4) teach the kids how to use the BJ and then supervise them as they use it — and don't have more than 1 BJ available.
