And it is not on their website. How can they expect to sell stuff if no one knows about it?

Quite sad really the new website. I reckon more than half what I see in the shop is NOT on the website. I think they got some bean counters who know nothing about WW to do the new site .

I was looking for a half speed bench grinder and noticed that they had a half speed grinder that rotated at 2800 rpm so I thought I would ring up and clarify things. When I asked if it was really half speed or not I was told the specs were correct and it was a half speed grinder. I gave up as the conversation was going nowhere and why should I sort out their website for them.

Still looking Chris? Vicmarc released one about 6 months ago - big sturdy beast. Carrolls have them, and I think Timberbits might too (any Vicmarc dealer)

Thanks Brett, I knew of those, I will eventually get around to buying one if a cheaper alternative does not show up. If I could find a cheap three phase grinder I would buy that and run it on a VFD.

Only just found this thread through Google - so did anyone ever come up with a way to work a remote switch for the Bosch GOF1600 ?????

Oops! I thought that was where we got to.

Probably not worthwhile pursuing since the other router motor (can't think of it but Chris Parks has one) came on the market in 230V.

It's not too hard to do. Easiest way would be to order the switch board through spares (if you don't want to canibalise the original base). Whether it's worth it or not depends I guess. I'm starting to look at this again. I haven't had a great run out of this router and now looking at putting it in a bench with a lift... Still deciding how to go about it but it's definitely not an insurmountable problem.

Jury's still out as to whether they'll fit the Jess em lift with that diameter though.

Think I'll probably sell the Bosch and just buy a motor rather than fool around with it though.

Did you wind up buying a lift and motor?

I bought a motor and a Kreg lift which is the same as the Incra lift just a different colour. In the time I have been tossing this around and actually obtained the parts my view has changed and I think I would buy a CNC router, VFD and lift. I am tempted to sell the motor but I have just bought a new car and Mrs P. might object if I was to throw more money at it. The CNC approach means that the speed control is outside the motor and far more robust and the motor can be braked to a stop which could be useful. CNC motors and links for buying here

The Kreg lift can be ordered with pads to suit the motor but I don't think it would be rocket science to make them to suit. If it fits a PC router motor the Swiss-Tec motor is the same diameter from memory,

Not yet Dale - gotta build the shed extension first (will start pretty soon). Still getting by with the Triton in a 600x400 table, which is not really the go.

Thanks Chris, might go down that route.

I seem to have this collection of routers now of which I only use the OF1400 and the Triton in the table.

Using it every day the under/over, switch off, lock/unlock thing with the triton drives me insane. Not to mention the collet lock on the Triton is so worn it doesn't work anymore.

Need to sort something out before I lose my mind!

This, in conjunction with the motor that Chris has, is what I'm lusting after:
    02202 Mast-R-Lift Excel IIâ„¢

That side wheel for height control looks like the Lizard's Gizzards.

Yep... That'd work (except for the bank balance).
