Default Bunnies: Metabo Workshop Vac $166

Just thought I'd let you guys know that Bunnings are selling off two models of Metabo workshop vacs - base model $166 and the one with the power tool socket that turns on the vac when you start the tool for $206.

I think they've discontinued them. My local (Tuggerah) had about 8 of them around the clearance table yesterday - around $100 off retail, 1200W, and German made, so it's a good deal.

I picked up the $206 model and it's a nice setup - good sized filter etc.

I also found an ex-display Bosch blue ROS at the right price, so I'm a very happy guy

Thanks for the heads up! I rang the local Bunnies and they hadn't heard of them, so on the off chance I popped over the Mt Gravatt Bunnies (I needed some other stuff anyway); they had one left and it wasn't on sale, but I mentioned the Tuggerah store and they gave them a ring and matched the price. Nice little vac for $206!

Default What's better about a "workshop vac"?

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick question.... what is the difference between a workshop vac such as this Metabo one, and a normal 1000W household vacuum?

All I need (at this stage of my hobby) is a vacuum to hook up to the Triton dust bucket. (I figure a household one will do, as no dust should be entering the actual vacuum).

    Thanks!

Generally the shop vac has a larger hose, up to 2" (50mm). Shop vac units mostly are wet/dry also (check before trying!). Better shop vac have a power point on them you can connect tools to. When you turn on the tool the vac starts too. Better units continue running for a few seconds when you turn off the tool. Dirt capacity is greater and, finally, they don't look wussy!

It's even better if you modify your Triton bucket to a mini cyclone.

    Default Bunnies Hoppers Xing

No deals at Hoppers in Melbourne. They had a single unit for $249 (2800 version). The 2801 (auto start) was not in stock. The only 'deal' on view was the Metabo orbital sanders for around $150 - 3 left at time of writing.

Bunnies at Booval won't believe me that you got the Metabo 1201 for $206.00 from them.

Tried rinnging Mt Gravatt to confirm but as usual nobody there had any idea .

They think Tuggerah is something kinky?

    Think i am bull********.

Agreed to sell it to me at that price if I can produce a copy of the receipt.

Can anyone help with a receipt for one.
    it's not me , it's you

Same at Scoresby. Only had the 1200 for $246 (not the auto start). As it turns out, my Pullman blew up this afternoon so no more shed play. It should be under warranty though (I hope).

If you don't want the auto start, those Karcher 1200W models for $99 are good value. It seems the more expensive ones just hava a larger dust collection container but with a cyclone in between, containers are pretty much irrelevant.

    Another heads up -

Called in to Tuggerah again today and they still have about 5 left - mostly the cheaper one.

They are also clearing several of their display chop saws and several display welders - about 2/3 normal retail, decent brands too (Bosch, DeWalt, CIG etc).

I think Bunnies are moving to stocking only the "disposable" power tools.

    Ozito, GMC et al.

I know that that seems to be all that the ones near me stock nowadays.

Maybe that's why Tuggerah are getting rid of the Metabo and the quality display items?

Mitre 10 aren't much better either.

    Default Metabo Cordless Drill

Dural Bunnies had the Metabo 12 volt drill with 2 batteries at $50 off. Same story - not stocking Metabo any more.
    Cheers
