    Default Bunning's 10% discount

Thought I'd for once take advantage of Bunning's boastful 10% undercut of competitiors' priced. The advertised price for some paint was $39.90 at Mitre 10. The shelf price at Bunnys was $50. When I fronted to the checkout I asked (my mistake) the bunny whether I am entitled to their 10% discount offer - should make it about $36. The bunny checked on her screen under Mitre 10 and I was sure it was blank there. Suddenly she said oh yes we also have it on sale for $39.80. Moral of the story - let the bunny ring up the register for $50 and then flip out the competitors' brochure.

I once had a bit of dispute about the 10% SCAM, I wrote a letter to the MD and got a very nice reply, saying that they were very sorry they didn't honour their discount and the store had now been briefed about the situation and I should go back (as if I haven't got anything else to do) and ask for the discount again, blah blah blah ....
Either the stores run their own scams and never honour or it's the whole managment that's in to it.

I hit the buggers up for their discount on some fence pailings, I still don't know how i managed to fit 80 of em into a lil subaru impreza, and when I went to drive off the lady at the checkpoint wanted to count every single one of them! I reckon I rang every single place to find the cheapest price, then I went of to bunnings and said gimme your 10% discount, I think I saved something like 16 dollars, but in the end it was the satisfaction of holding them to it.

The one thing I wish bunnings would do is to allow you to pay for a sausage sizzle at the register! I never have a $1.50 on hand when I want it!

I bought a sausage in bread there last weekend. It was $3.00 with onion so I promptly told them the scout group on the adjacent oval were selling sausges in a roll (with the onion) for $2.50 I asked for my discount and got my sausage in a roll (with onoin) for $2.25

    Believe it or not.

We operate the Sausage Sizzle at Bunnies in Cranbourne twice a year for the Koo Wee Rup Scouts but we are not allowed to sell drinks.
We made a profit of $400 at the last one and are grateful to Bunnies for allowing us to use the entry foyer.
The money goes towards equipment, training and general expenses to run the group which, despite fee's etc, is quite expensive.
Bunnies only donate the space and we provide the BBQ's and gas as well as all the 'Makin's'.
Several other groups use the facility too and I have seen their own (Bunnies) stand in action.
At the end of the day you never want to see another sausage.
Just an aside as much as I dislike them, maybe we could set up a sausage sizzle outside McDonalds or HUngry Jacks

For $16 I would have just bought it from the cheapest place and let them have the profit instead of Bunnies.

Bunnings have been fine for me here. They seem to take the 10% of competitors price pretty seriously. I bought my Mitre saw there and the staff actually briefed me to check other prices and even if the competitor was $1 less they would give me the 10%. That is pretty much what happened. Mitre 10 had the same saw for $8 less so I went back to Bunnings a week after the purchase and they honoured the promise.

Something else though is that when I got my Router I saw a price in Bunnings and then was at Mitre 10 a bit later that same day. The price was $370 at Mitre 10 vs $340 at Bunnings. So I said do you price match? they said yes and we will beat it by 10%. So I got my 3612 for $304. So there are discounts to be had.

my ohh my, what is the world coming to . $3 for a sausage on bread with a bit of onion. No wonder all the southerners are moving upto queensland, we have cheaper sausages on bread . Anyway, I don't like onion much, it's not the taste, it's the crunch you get when eating it.

I'd still like it if I could pay for it at the register, they would sell alot more sausages on bread. But either way, i'd rather spend my money to help out the local scouts then to help out some yankee fast food chains!

As for you opinion grunt, I thought of that, and well, I'm a bit sorry that I didn't end up giving my business to the other fella, but unfortunatly I put everything I buy on the trade card, it gives me untill the end of the next month to pay for it, so unfortunatly bunnings have my balls in a vice! I was also crossing my fingers that i'd get the further 5% off for putting it on the card, but i didn't.

The scam they try and get away with, is it must be an identical item, brand, colour, everything must be the same.

    Hey lucas,

I didn't want to start a war about the weather, I was just talking about our sausages on bread .

I'll be the first to admit that the sunshine coast isn't what the name implies, but I can't change that (I wish I could though, I get fed up with the rain after 2 days max).

Either way, I have never been to Melbourne (I'd like to visit it one day), so I have no idea on what the weather is like. But if I do go then.................................

    should I pack my umbrella???????????????????

B.T.W, I think this thread has been fully hijacked, it started out with bunnings, then to sausages on bread, and now to weather... what next, what we ate for breakfast???????? AND I'M TO BLAME FOR ALL OF THIS, NO!!!!!!

In the civilised part of this world we cook them first
And after 87 posts you should realise that a thread like this is always going to get hijacked.

Bravo Iain, Bravo. I take my hat off to you.

Huey never told me that I had to cook them  Or could it be...Your first name is Iain, no it can't be...or is it, you seem to know an awfull lot about cooking, ohh I'm just gonna come right out an say it, your Huey aren't you?

I should have guessed all along, the advanced knowledge of sausage sizzle cooking techniques, secret onion recipies, it was staring me in the face all this time .

As for your snow chains, well I aint stupid (not half!), you can keep them, i just recently bought a pair from bunnings for only $199, with 2 instructional video's. They even told me that If I find them anywhere else for cheaper then I can get 10% off GUARANTEED!

    ...back to the topic, right???
