I remember many years ago a mate of mine wanted his first triton unit to build a deck etc , when he approached bunnies for a price match it was a no because bunnies got their tritons boxed with a wheel kit and hat as a package , these were espically packed for bunnies so they didn't have to price match .
Our local mom and dad mitre 10 is in shutdown mode at the moment ( end of the financial year ) there only a small mitre 10 and bunnies is only 6 k away , last weekend I was caught short 3 of 12mm x180mm bolts to finish a job , local mitre 10 didn't have them so I went to bunnies $5.30 each
On tuesday I was at maitland visiting my daughter 30k away and called in to the new Masters store , as you do , the same bolts were $4.60 each , so maybe when masters gets more stores we may see some better prices because of the competition.
Good to see wattyl products back on the shelves even if the company was bought out by masters . At least there still made in Australia by Australians.Ashore

I've approached bunnings twice in the last couple of weeks about matching the price things.
They did honour both.
One was a wall mount garage remote that I could get in Albury for 42 with free delivery. They had it for 63. They accepted my web page printout and did the extra 10%.
Second I wanted a new 10" circular blade, Now they had the Irwin for 41.08. I could get it from sydney for 29.95 plus 10 bucks postage.
I showed the guy the web page printout and he said yep, Now I'm an honest guy so I told him there was 10 bucks postage (more later in this), He said "lets not tell them that at the counter". Went out the front He told the girl what price to charge and it went thru at 10% less.
Now They never checked the web pages while I was there, They were happy with the printout.
If I was a nasty person I could print out any web page with any price I liked and I think they would honour it.
They don't take my name and address so if I'm talking rubbish they can chase me down.
The Honest bit. I purchased some stuff for these birthday parties this weekend. Got perfume and pot and pans and sheet sets kind of stuff. When I went thru the checkout my reciept had 'GAME" on it for 40 bucks. I thought "What Game". So went to the front desk and got my 40 bucks back.
Left Big W and went outside for a smoke and then worked out that the perfume was called GAME (like I'd even know what its called, I was told get the blue boxed one).
Walked back to Big W store and counter, Told them I was a (insert term here of your choice) and asked to pay for the item I had almost taken.
Was I stupid or am I an Earl and what goes around comes around.

_fly_ , you are being honest and wish there were more like you.
Today I have had to replace a door handle. Bought a replacement from local hardware for $21.25. Priced the same item at green shed - about $29!
Twelve months ago I was looking at buying a Makita job site radio. Bunnings then price was about $145. I waited until July and the price was $165. Today they have it on clearance for $130.
I call it swings and round abouts.
The other day I needed an extension hose for a washing machine and time being short I went to the nearest hardware store (about two blocks away) walked in and asked the staff member (probably the owner) what I wanted. This store is small but has lots of items. I was standing underneath what I wanted. A pole came out and it was brought down from the ceiling. The price was not cheap $45, but the service was excellent and the convenience priceless. I was back on the job before I would have got to another hardware store.
All of this in the inner suburbs of Melbourne.

It is going to be interesting, with my local Bunnings store, there is a brand new Masters store opening directly opposite in about two weeks. The odd thing is the Bunnings store have increased their staff and customer service.
Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I´m not so sure about the universe.

What I did find strange was there were 2 people behind that counter. A middle aged woman and a young thing.
The young thing was looking at me like I was an idiot for doing it. I even asked her and she said nothing, just looked at me strange.
Older woman never questioned it, Just took my money and never said anything.

Fly,
It's called KARMA, I would do the same, .
I went to my local; big green shed the other week . to price a new disc sander , my Bosch PEX 400 , sheared the shaft and not worth repairing, there was a similar 1 on the shelf which had been opened , I opened the box and the tool had been replaced with a used tool, a very heavily used tool , I told the counter staff , and they could not believe the fact, until I brought the box & tool to them.
Some people have no conscience.

Many long years ago I was in Nock and Kirbys in George Street Sydney
browsing, as I usually did in my lunch hour ,as I worked straight opposite, there was a guy with a blue Wolf 1/2" drill waiting to be served, I sort of hung around for about ten minutes or so,nobody came near him to ask if he needed help etc,in the end the guy just put it under his arm and walked up the stairs and into York Street, couldn't believe my eyes.Nobody challenged him or anything so he got off with around a $400 drill
No wonder they went broke!!

Went to a new Masters Store last week. More expensive for most items than Bunnings. Built opposite a Bunnigs. Tool section at Masters was very poor.

At masters I couldn't find any accessories for any power tools. So unless everything you want is in the packet you out of luck.
