    Default Chainsaw/Rotary Tool

    Hello everyone,
I have asked more about Power Tools in thread regarding not-powered tools and I guess that did not pass as an appropriate post, so I will create another thread.

Ok, first of all, I have questions regarding Rotary Multi-function tool that is going to be used mainly for removing wood and detailing. I am looking forward to get one and leaning towards Proxxon brand.

Also I have some questions regarding burrs used for polishing and removing wood, carbide burrs. Why carbide material is so valuable among these kinds of operations? What makes carbide special, is it durability? Endurance? Hardness?

Please post if you used/use any similar tool, your experience is much appreciated.

Second question is regarding chainsaw carving. I have used my neighbour's Husqvarna chainsaw (2000w I think) and it was not as hard as I have expected.
However, if I want to carve details with chainsaw, I need special bar/chain, if anyone has experience in chainsaw carving, please advice me about this kind of stuff, because I have used chainsaw with regular (kickbacking) bar/chain.

Thank you all for your information and will to help me.

They don't seem to have a dealer in Lithuania, but this outfit has mini-chain saw tools that mount on a right-angle grinder. The tools were originally developed for trimming cattle hooves.

I've had the Lancelot for several years. With a lot of practice, I can almost duplicate the finish of a belt sander.

Their dealers in UK or Norway are possible sources, or you could contact them directly. Very nice folks to work with.

    Cheers,
    Joe

This one might be worth looking at.

The attachment kit means you don't have to worry about voltages - just use your own 100mm angle grinder.
