Cheap electric chainsaw
I already have 9 chainsaws ranging from 34 to 120cc so I have no idea why I stopped along side a roadside skip last sunday evening when I saw a small chainsaw bar poking out the top. When I saw it was an Ozito electric I almost left it there but it look near new so I threw it in the back of the van and just got around to look at it. Sure enough it would not run and said I would give myself 10 minutes to get it running and within 2 minutes I identified a broken electrical connector on the chain brake switch. Replaced said spade connector and whala! it ran. I reckong it has only been used a half a dozen times on small cuts as it has very little wear on the chain.
Opening it up reminded me how poorly these chainsaws are made and how they are clearly made to a price (I looked up the price and its a whopping RRP $99). It even says on the handle "made for non-professional occasional use" doesn't inspire much confidence does it.
I started to put it back together and while installing a circlip went flying across the shed and I decided, well I will never see that again so I got out my box of circlips but none of them would fit looked in a couple of other boxes - nothing. I then decided I would have a quick look for the old circlip but after 5 minutes I thought, I don't have any use for this chainsaw so why am I doing this? But I persisted, and well past the 10 minute mark (ad finding a couple of other things I had lost in the last few months) I did find it.
I did it more as a challenge to see if I could get it working than intending to use it myself. Now I have to figure out who am I going to give it to? First dibs on stuff I don't want is my son. If he doesn't want it I'll try the mens shed but I think they already have a couple of these saws. If that doesn't work I will offer it on here.

It sure is a throw away world we live in these days isn't it? Build it cheap, sell it cheap and dump it quick. Good job fixing it Bob. Hope it finds a home that will take care of it.

The sprocket shaft circlip I presume. I've found myself high & dry out the bush without wood for the very same reason. These days I carry a spare, but as yet have not actually required it, & possibly never will.

Ozito does fill a gap in the market, i know a tradie that will only buy Ozito tools. Use it for the job and toss/sell it upon completion.
