Choose between Hafco & Carbatec
If you have a choice between two portable thicknessers that are pretty much identical in specs, which would you choose:
Option 1 Hafco T13 for $659 (before show discount)
Option 2 Delta DE22-560 from Carbatec for $800 (before discount)

The specs on those two machines are virtually identical, and $141 is not to be sneezed at. I bought my bandsaw from Hafco (Herless) and found them very good to deal with. I vote for the T13.

I think you will find the delta has reversable disposable carbide blades. Im not sure about the hafco.
carbatec have their own branded machine that is almost identical to the delta with resharpenable blades.
carbatec also have a new harder blades available for 12 1/2 inc machines.

I looked at the Carbatec clone of the Delta thicknesser. It looks OK. The only concern I have is that the Carbatec guy I taleked with reckons the gears are not very robust. However for a weekend amateur it might be fine, I wont be giving it a hard time
