Circular saw jig to cut narrow boards
I have access to some old fence posts and floorboards. These rarely have a straight edge to work with. I have come up with an idea for a jig to cut a straight edge for these narrow pieces.
Could anyone with experience please review this and give me some (constructive) feedback on whether this will work...
Thanking you in advance.

Oryx,
Looks ok to me too. You may need a couple of passes on badly out of line edges but the method is fine. Let us know how it works out.

Gap between saw and timber?
I have had a bit of further thought.
Is there any known issues because the workpiece is likely to be below the base of the saw and only held by the clamps?

as long as you are not having an off cut that can get stuck between the blade and fence that will then shoot out at you.

Short answer is Yes.
The saw blade rotates forward and up into the front of the saw. It is designed to do this so that it pulls the timber against the base of the saw.
Now with the gap under the saw there will be a lot of vibration of the timber especially the edge being cut off. So any pieces that come away from this will become projectiles.
I think that this will be very dangerous.
I haven't got a good solution for you but I would encourage you to not use this one..... some old things are lovely

Perhaps make a groove under your jig so that the edge of your floor board fits snuggly and hence more safe.
