I bought the 1017L from Home Hardware, to use for cross cuts while my table saw was out of action. It does a great job, and I'm really pleased with it. I'm a weekend woodworker, so my tools don't get used as much as tradie tools, and if I was a tradie Id probably have bought the bigger and more robust Makita. But for my purposes it has been perfect.

The only problem as I understand, appears to be that the dust collection is not as good as some other brands. However, this is heresay as I do not have one.
The dust collection on my Makita 1016 is crap. As this is one of the best saws of the market I struggle to see how any of these saws will have decent dust extraction.
