Dawn 225 Vice Information
Scored a very nice 225 today for the bargain price of $70, it looks to have never been fitted to a bench. I have been searching around to look at fitting and bench options and have notices reference to Dawn quick release models. I looked on their website and there is no reference to dawn vices being quick release. Does anyone know if Dawn vices are quick release (couter clockwise turn type) as standard, or is this just wishful thinking?

I have a couple of no. 7(175)quick release dawn vices. They also made a no.9(225) with quick release.
Don't know if they still produce quick release.
That's a good buy @ $70, the RRP is somewhere in the order of $230

I scored a Dawn 10" (254mm) Quick release off ebay. It has the lever to release the thread.

Here is a link to the Dawn website.

My understanding of their range is this. They used to make both quick release and standard (non-quick release) woodworking vices here in Australia.
The quick release vices that they market now are the pivot jaw ones which are not made in Australia.
The standard woodworking vices are still made locally.
I wish they still made the old fashioned quick release vices (not the pivot jaw ones) in Australia. I would like a couple for a future work bench project.Regards,
Ian.
