Default Your thoughts on the De Walt 36 Volt Li-Ion four pack kit.

I bought the new 36v De Walt four pack kit for us a few weeks back and love it. It's got the Circular saw, battery drill, recipro and torch (we leave the torch at home. Don't need it). Took ages to get another new battery though because they are hard to source since the kit is so new. And then had to pay $275 for it. Hate 'battery-hopping' between tools and often all the tools in the kit are being used at the same time, hence the need for three batteries.
My only gripe is that if you wanna use the supplied case forget about leaving a long blade in the recipro and the battery drill sits really awkwardly in the case if you like to leave a decent length bit in it.
The biggest bonus is the charging time. 15-20 minutes. Can't believe it.
Paid a special price of $1530 for the kit then walked into another shop days after and they were selling the drill only for $1020!!!!!!!!!! Now can source the drill for $760.
We've got most brands in our quiver of stuff but this kit has blown away everyone on site.
Anyone else in here have this kit? My fave is the circular saw with the 184mm (7 1/4) blade. It's a killer. It actually works really well. 300 x 45 LVL not a problem. Just keep the blade sharp and only use thin kerf blades.
What I wanna know is: Has anyone had any problems with this kit yet? What should we look out for?

Ha Ha Haaaa. Ahhh Bugger. Looks like five days later I am replying to my own post.
Just five days later, since my question about what to look out for, the drill chuck has exploded in two!!!!!!! Check out the pic.
Was only screwing in a YZP batten/cyclone screw through yellow tongue flooring and into pine and 'C R A C K'.

Took it into the shop to make a claim on the warrantee and the guy says 'Oh. The chucks not covered by the warrantee'

I then says quite loudly "F^%$IN BULL%$#@ IT'S NOT COVERED BY WARRANTEE! YOU GIVE ME THE REPS F&%$IN' NUMBER RIGHT NOW!. I ONLY BOUGHT THIS A FEW WEEKS BACK! TRUST ME THIS IS GETTING FIXED FOR FREE!!!"

What would they be saying if it wasn't covered? That a $2 hex bit is stronger than the chuck or that you are actually getting the chuck for free when you spend $$$ on a drill. C'mon, give us a break.

Then another salesman couldn't help but hear and commented on the fact these drill have nbad chucks and they are replacing them. Apparently 99.99% of drill chucks aren't covered by warrantee. But this is a dud, so look out. Up to 2 weeks to get fixed. D'oh.

I also have two corrections to make.
    a) The batteries take close to 45 minutes to recharge, not 20. I timed it properly this time.
    b) I actually only paid $1350 for the kit, not $1530. The old switch some numbers around trick hey.

    Anyway, just warning ya's.

    Default Dewalt 36v

I sold my 24v last week with a couple of batteries and bought a 36v.

To the guy who split his chuck...check to see if your drill was made in the PRC (peoples republic of China ) or if it is stamped made in Mexico!

On paper the 24v has a faster RPM and BPM but had a real weight issue, the new 36v cost me $340 Aussie for the drill, battery and charger. I find the 36v is a completely different unit, a chuck that you can set with one hand. I have only had this for a few days so I can't comment on battery life but at least it is light enough to use all day.

I will buy a cut-off/grinder when I can find one for a good price.

    Warmest regards
