    Default Drill Bench Holder (THING)

    Hi,

Back in the old days ,you could buy a clamp thing that you could mount on a bench and clamp your electric drill into it .

I have searched high and low but cant find anything around.

I dont know if you would call it a holder or a clamp but any ideas where I could pick one up would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Greg

Bunnings, Aldi etc sell cheap plastic ones. The case on the one I had broken. I then go a cast one from Gasweld. The only issue I have with it is the that there is nothing to stop it rotating on the shaft.

    Thanks for the response.
Yes its similar to that except the one I had in mind was fixed.

I'll give Gas Weld a call and see if they have them,(I could imagine what Bunnings ones are like)

    Cheers

The Z Vice [original] comes with a fixed one - would be a very expensive way of getting one if you didn't have a need for the vice.

The ones at Gasweld are more like a drill press that uses a power drill, rather than a vice.

Not really helpful but I was in your boat. Luckily Aldi was selling a taurus drill press for $60 complete. Much better and solid solution for probably not much more than you will pay for your holder (around $30-$40). If you aren't in a hurry just wait till aldi gets more in. Probably 6 months or so.

I bought one at Carba-Tec Brisbane a few months ago for $5.

I have seen them there since then. Not sure of their current availability.

It worked ok for the application that I had for it at the time.
