Elu never made a tool themselves, but they outsourced from some excellent manufacturers. This was quite clever because it meant they could go to different companies and buy appropriate to its core competency. Unfortunately, B&D bought it and started slipping in products considered by many not quite up to Elu's previous standards.
Many parts are still available for their machines through DeWalt. If the price is right and it's a tool you've been looking for, I would go for it.
Damien
PS. Send the model no. of the sander and I'll see if I can't send you the schematics. It's normally a frozen bottom end bearing located in the sanding bed. This is a standardised bearing and simple to purchase...
I'm guesting the 'flip' saw is a TGS 170 - 173? TGS stands for Tisch (table) Gehrung (mitre) Säge (saw). Those babies are the beloved on-site saws of tradies all over Europe and still fetch good prices here 2nd hand. Nice machine. Take care of her.Is it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

Good Old Gear
Ta Damien,
The "Postage" for the Elu Jointer would be a KILLER.
It's Sydney and I'm Brisbane,
Transport Companies do not like Private work
The sander is no problem,
just rubbers to replace,
it's an old Aluminium Bodied "MONSTER"
Thinking now that it is a Metabo, Hmmmm???? Either way
Wendy Ruffly Rustic had an ELU TGS and was looking to let it go,
I was quite tempted.
Hope she kept it,
Must check.Navvi

Over here there's a website called www.myhammer.de. It works by posting an ad for a certain service and the lowest bid when the auction is over wins.
For example: I'm in Munich and I have bought a jackhammer in Hamburg. Anyone who's driving to Munich in the next week anyway, should make me an offer and earn a bit of petrol money...
I use it all the time and it's the bees-knees. Posting an ad costs nothing as the service provider pays the commission. There must be something similar in Oz surely...Is it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

My mate and i have an elu flip over rip and drop saw which has done virtually zero work cause its a pain in the butt... I am hoping you can help with a few problems
The handle you squeese to pull the guard back is so tiff its not funny and doesn't pull the guard back enough as a drop saw.. And when used as a drop saw the turn over plate doesn't make good contact with the on off switch for the table saw to enable the drop saws trigger to work properly..
We have a big framing job coming in a few months which this saw could be set up and left on if it can be sorted otherwise i think it will stay in the shed for another few years again... Its current sleep is well into 3 years at the moment

Don't get me wrong pulling stuff apart isn't a problem ..Leave something remotely close to me for long enough with a problem and it will be in pieces... I love Elu stuff but other than the big motor detest this saw.. It has never been much good since the day it was unpacked .. Its my partners saw and his top floor project so i was hoping to use his gear not mine..
I know its not nice but was hoping these 2 things were common enoughg for a simple fix..
I looked breifly at the switch last time the saw came out to see the light and it appeared like there is so much flex in the base that a tiny bit of irrregularityh in the ground will flex it enough for it not to make contact.. Sure i could pack the gap between the base and switch but i think why should i have to it's a dodgy fix
The guard isn't like my little elu which was cable pulled this one is mechanically pulled with flat plate so whilst i gather the stiff part could be lubed how do you get over the fact the guard doesn't come up high enough and the little roller on the guard has to run to the face of the timber to push it up...
Oh well had my rant looks like its either fix or leave it there
cheers utemad
