    Lightbulb favourite impact driver

    Evening All,
I'm looking to buy an impact driver( Li-ion). Just wondering which brand people out there prefer?
I've been checking out the Milwaukee V18 , as I have a Milwaukee cordless hammer drill and the batteries would be compatable, but they are pretty heavy in comparison to other brands like Makita.
    Any suggestions?

Scroll to the bottom of this page for a few links to other discussions on them.

An 18v jobbie hooked up to a wheelnut would be able to roll a truck uphill, even the 10.8v buggers are torquey themselves.

    Cheers...............Sean

I think there might be some confusion between impact driver which is very small and light and an impact wrench which is quite the opposite.

I think if you have the batteries for the milwaukee go with that. Even if you didnt id still probably recommend milwaukee of makita. Both are great guns.

I have both the lightweight 1/4 hex drive and big brute 325 ft/lb 1/2 square drive beastie from Makita. Haven't had a lot of use from either yet, but have been impressed with both for the bit that they have done.

Thought I had a dud in the big brute when I first used it, fitted up to a wheel nut and fired off. Two clicks and a high speed run, thought something had broken inside, till the bare stud showed, smooth, no kicking or jerking. I have an equivalent torque air powered rattler that belts away for 10 seconds to start to move these nuts, and just about breaks wrists with the recoil jerks.

However, if you have started down the Milwaukee, and they do the machine you want, I'd stick with that so that you can optimise battery resources.

Couldn't think of much worse on the cordless front than having exhausted the batteries for one tool, and having a full one equivalent in all respects except mounting sitting close at hand and not being able to use it.

    Good luck with your purchase.
