A free GMC SCMS for someone, but who?
I have a 10" GMC SCMS (Model LSMS250) in good condition
that has become surplus to my needs. It only has the
standard 24-tooth blade, but that's ok for framing and
general construction, etc. For finer work, you'd need to
invest in a blade with more teeth.
I considered selling it on eBay, but couldn't be
bothered. So... I'm looking for a truly deserving person
to give it to. The only catch is that the person will
have to come and pick it up (Sydney, Northern Beaches).
But how to choose a "truly deserving" person? Obviously,
someone who'd get a lot of use out of it, but for whom
the purchase price of a new/used one would be a significant
barrier to owning one. Oh, and who is known to take
good care of their stuff. )
So, I'm asking the senior regularly-contributing members
of this forum who live in the Sydney area to recommend
a suitable recipient. (If you don't want to make names
public, send me a private message.)

Nice one Strangerep. Hope you find a good home for it. Someone will certainly appreciate it.
Greenie for helping out.
Cheers,

Greenie to you.
Perhaps you could donate it to a young'n from a club somewhere in Sydney.

I'm not familiar with that expression. Aren't "greenies"
something a child blows out of its nose?

any clubs in Sydney.
Oh, what the hell... does anyone want it? Tell me a good story about what
you'll use it for and it's yours (pickup only).

Hi strangrep, Click on user CP in the top lefthand corner and you will get the idea about greenies.
I live on the Northern Beaches......but I'm not worthy....
No seriously I already have one. do a search here on mens sheds and you will find a link with a list of them. I think there is one at Brookvale they may be interested. Or if you are having trouble getting rid of it, I'm sure the Salvo's at Monavale will take it.

Wonderful sentiment strangerep and I hope it catches on down under. There is a similar movement just starting on the Canadian Woodworking Forums as well.

This type of giving can mean a world of difference to deserving, beginning woodworkers on a $0 budget who really need that leg up. Congratulations my friend for initiating something that has the potential to be a huge boost for our craft and those aspiring to pursue it.
