I have become the owner of some old new tools today thanks to my neighbour an ex-navy engineer and maintenance engineer for a major Hotel in Sydney.

All Sheffield Steel spring outside calipers x 1, dividers plus diameter calipers inside and outside and a tapered reamer. Although coated in gease they needed a clean up and spray with CRC.

He is checking to see what else he has apparently a heap of Whitworth spanners/sockets he was just going to toss away. I'll gladly take them off his hands in some circles these hae become popular again.

I have heard that whitworth sizing/ spanners are apparently being used by new car manufacturers, because not many people have them anymore.
They are also handy when working on pommie cars, and, from talking to a mate of mine, who also has a pommie car, the spanners can be bought new, from England - with their conversion rate to AU

Sounds like you are about to do very well. , hope you bought him a beer

I have seen some threads talking about using citric acid to remove rust.

Thanks for that I will give it a go.

A fellow I knew use to make up a batch of diesel break fluid and one other substance of which no one ever knew it cleaned Engine parts of all traces of dirt paint and rust.
If the block, head etc had badly rusted galleries it would find them welsh plugs gone no trace.

He put one fellows seazed motor in feed it up to be able to turn it over by hand after 5 years of sitting outside.
