Default GMC 250mm slider saws $169 at Bunnies

    G'day everyone.

I notice the local Bunnies are upgrading their 250mm GMC sliding compound mitre saws.

This means they're getting rid of the old stock.

    It's a single-rail saw, with a 2000w motor and a 40-tooth blade.

My local Bunnies (Bankstown) still has about 6 left. At $169 it seemed too much of a bargain to pass up -- even for someone like me who's not that keen on burning electrons. Maybe other Bunnies will have them as well.

    The model is MS256.

Bunnies seem to be clearing half their stock at the moment.

I picked up a DeWalt DW621 router today for $215

Mate, you gotta beware the single rail SCMS. Even with two rails, they are often challenged. There is simply too much rack with only a single sliding guide.

    Good score, Darryl!

Bodgy -- thanks for the tip. It's a problem I was aware of before buying. If I was planning to use this saw anywhere near frequently, then I would have saved up and bought something else.

But it is something that will get infrequent use. This being the case, it was very difficult to pass up at that price. I went through a few of them to find the smoothest slider I could. The one I've got is pretty smooth. I'm sure wear and tear could see that change.

Thanks for your wisdom on the matter anyway. You've got to admit that $169 is a pretty darned good price for any large sliding saw!

    Regards,
