GMC bench grinder
Bunnings have a 200mm (8") gmc grinder on sale at the moment. Dropped from something like $169 to $39.
I picked one up yesterday and have to say its a bargain if you need a grinder. Excellent quality surprisingly. Turned it on, and then back off once it was up to speed. Took about 3 minutes to stop spinning. pretty good bearings.
Definitely worth it if you need a grinder.

Bob, it is the only GMC product i've ever been impressed / proud to own.
The stock was something like $120 off... maybe they are trying to get rid off all the good quality models in favour of horrible cheap ones?

You rotten Bug*er! I am now $39 poorer and Bunnings is richer by the same amount. If you had just kept quiet I wouldn't have have known about this grinder and I would have waited until I could afford the Jet one.

I paid about $100 for one last year. So far I am very happy. I have commented many times when the topic of bench grinders comes up that if they are for sharpening only, you really aren't putting much strain on them and they will last for ages. I have replaced the grey wheels with the white. I was at Bunnies on Monday night in Geelong and they were putting the prices on the mountains of cheap GMC products. There is a replacement model of this bench grinder available from GMC, it looks as if Bunnes have done a huge bulk buy on the older stock to sell them off cheaply. It sounds like a good deal for us.

Just read the instructions in the 3/4 hp GMC manual.
Grinding
Do not stuff the stone ...
Do not press the objects to be grinded (sic) ...
Cool the objects to be grinded (sic) ...
Wood chisels should never be grinded (sic)
Take care the objects to be grinded does not slip to avoid a hand injury or stuck between support and stone.
I can forgive the poor English which is considerably better than most Jinglish. But "Wood chisels should never be grinded." What the hell do they think we are buying these things for? To trim up our toenails or something?Bob Willson

Had trip down to Bunnies at Mile End last Saturday to find no GMC products with reduced prices. I'll have to stop reading about specials on this site as they don't seem to get to the Mile End store in S.A.. Just as well I had something else to do down in the big smoke or it would be 350 kms down the drain.

Stinky attended Bunnies in Geelong with the Stinkette last Monday ..... They were just setting up the GMC display, they would have had all 100 of the allocated routers. The lady that served us was writing up the tickets.
DAMN the Stinkette ...... If I wasn't put under the time constraints that all other halves do at Bunnies I would have had time to think about the possibilities of a new router. Now I have returned to the boards to hear post after post of gloating about the new GMC router for the table. I was granted 5 minutes at Bunnies last Sunday .... again with the Stinkette .... but unfortunatly they had sold out .... I had to settle on some new clamps. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools.
