Hitachi M12 SE Router
Hi all,
Has anyone out there had issues with removing bits from a Hitachi M12 SE ? I am a greedy sod and have 7 routers, but this one is the only one that gives me problems removing the bit . I either have to remove the collet nut and hammer the collet out with a screw driver or if the bit is too big to slip the collet over i have to slacken it right off and take a pair of mole grips to the bit and twist. Is this just me ???
Regards all Paul

I'm assuming it's a 2-stage collet, so the collet itself should be held captive by the nut, sounds like the collet nut isn't engaging the ring in the collet to pull it out when you undo it.
I did have a similar problem. What I used to do to get around it was to remove the nut from the router and make sure the collet was pressed hard against the inside of the nut, then slide the bit in and put it all back together. If the nut falls off the end of the collet when a bit is inside, the collet is stuffed and should be replaced.

Yep 2 stage. Thanks for the quick reply...This has been doing my head in. Think it may need replacing.
