I have a newish Hitachi cordless jigsaw with 6ahr batteries. Runs great. I did have a problem with the initial batteries which were replaced under waranty. Since then they have not run flat even after a lot of use. I've cut through different materials with no problem.

Really happy with these clean cuts.
    i.e. no tear out.

The yellow measuring tape is there to show me where the edge of my work table is when I clamp the workpiece.

The first pick shows I am using the Anti Splintering shield.
It seems to get in the way more than help.
And actually dislodges since its just a snap in fit.
I tried to tape in down but the dust kept sticking to the tape making it hard to see where the blade meets the work piece.
So just removed the tape and the shield and much better without.

Just a reminder with these Lithium-ion batteries.
As soon as they start to run down, you need to remove them and recharge them.
Don't run them all the way down until the tool stops.
Although I've read that the smart tools fitted with the smart batteries will stop the tool before the battery runs all the way down.
I think these are marked with a star on the battery and on the tool.

I seem to recall it was $70 at the time...a bit more than online replacements, but, I would have someone to front if it turned out a dud...
The first time I went to him complaining about not holding charge I left it with him for a day and collected in the arvo...he put it onto one of his tricky machines and cycled it a few times. When I went to collect he told me there was nothing wrong with it, just needed a complete drain and refill, and there was no charge...(fee)

probably a year or so later, went back again, left it with him, and he called to give me the bad news...so I got the battery refill...

Guess where I get all my batteries now..

    Battery availability.
Makita's web site has five different 18 volt batteries. Down the bottom of the page is the 3.0 Ah with gauge.
Justtools offer offer three of the 18 volt batteries.
I hope they are not going to change the battery any time soon as I have a number of their LXT tools including a couple acquired in the last month.

    Sorted!

Removed and used the fittings from the Flexible Water Diverter Hose that was shrilling something horrible.

And I like the orange colour, it goes with my Triton tools!

    Hi Cliff

Also like AEG, but all my tools are pre the orange livery.

However, AEG is now owned by Techtronic Industries of Hong Kong and their factory is across the border in Shenzen, China. Their other brand names are Ryobi, Milwaukee, Homelite and (I think) Ridgid.

Let us hope that they can maintain the quality into the future.
