I know a couple of guys that have them. One lays timber flooring for a living and swears by them. He is on his second. Mind you he uses it all day every day. The other is a builder who has his big Makita ( can't remember which model ) with a 300mm blade that he uses for framing and general work but he uses the smaller one for most of the finishing work - skirtings, architraves, moulding etc. Both of the ones they have were made in Japan ( up until about a year ago ) but now they are made in China. They both love them for their portability and accuracy and if you use a sharp blade and don't work them too hard then they should last a fair while.

I have one of them. it's a pretty good saw. I bought it because it's lighter, and easier to lug around than the big one. (My back's not what it used to be.)
I've had it for about 5 years, no problems. I use it mainly for fixing.
That's about what I paid 5 yrs ago, from memory.

I have one that I purchased about 2 years ago. Mainly use it for small joinery work box making etc. However did use it for the cross cuts to make a 14 seat sliding extension table. I find it to be extremely accurate, in fact this was the case straight out of the box, light to move around and when connected to a shop vac produces very little dust. It also does not take up as much space on the bench as the bigger saws. Wold highly recommend it for fine joinery work. Have a look at it on YouTube.

I have had one for 10 years, still as good as the day I got it, 100% accurate, sharp blades are the secret and every six months I remove the base, clean the turntable and re-assemble. It has done everything, framing, fixing, detail joinery and aluminium fabrication. It will still be going long after Im not.

Agree with other posts, accurate straight out of the box, portable and robust. Like any tool maintenance helps prolong life and usabilty. Mine has been used fro picture framing, aluminium frame cutting to furniture fabrication. If it died tomorrow it would be either repaired or replaced with another one.

Picked up the saw and used it for two small jobs on the weekend - accuracy was spot on out of the box for a mitred handrail job and then a small decking. The lightweight was a blessing but the power cord was fairly short, sort of only long enough to plug in then pull it far enough out from the wall to use....not quite the advertised 2 metres. The supplied blade cut everything cleanly.
