Thread: Makita LXT overseas shops?

Have you looked at ebay. I bought some Makita stuff which was imported from the US. Used my previous multivoltage charger and bought an aftermarket battery from aussie batteries. Saved hundreds.

yeh it's definitely an option. It seems it's literally double the price here than O/S which is insane. There is no way I'll be buying local thats for sure. If it dies I'll just buy another one and break even.

Going to wait till after New Year when everyone is going to dump the remaining stock after people have foolishly spent their money on tools priced high for shoppers Xmas. Not long to wait

Unfortunately they seemt to sell the "consumer version" of there brand. I'm not to convinced about that just yet. Not much more the the pro LXT series. Thanks though as it may come in useful for other things in the future.

Several years ago Bunnings redid their stores to be clones of HD, pretty much precisely in fact, right down to the idiot on the door...no wait Home Depot is orange, Bunnings is green. HD carries much more stock than Bunnings but both chains have the familiar buck fifty per hour staff who apparently wander aimlessly with their eyes closed throughout the day so don't know where anything is when you ask.

Unfortunately many US companies think the civilised world ends at Hawaii so good luck with that.

Ha Ha, oh that's cruel I'm up there a lot and prefer to think of it as a bit of a history lesson; so this is what things were like 50 years ago. Still, the natives are friendly.

While respecting your comments on not mentioning ebay, it is still the cheapest way to go.

I've bought lots of tools, especially cordless from the US, and have had no negative experiences.

Oh I agree. I'm not dissing ebay or worried at purchasing from there. It's just that I knew everyone would say ebay so I tried to reduce the clutter of posts on well known international "shops" such as ebay.

Yeh thats around similar to ebay's. Thanks for the link. Good to know about these stores. I like this pack better because iit has the circular saw rather than the carving knife which is what most of the packs on ebay have.

Prices in Australia are really stupid to be honest. I don't mind a bit of a mark up but what can you say. Thats why it's a guaranteed bet I won't be buying Australian makita power tools

I just picked up the Makita LXT405 4 piece kit.

Cost me $600 delivered (AUD) and had it within 8 days of payment. Had full tracking and batteries were half charged. Must pay through PayPal.

Downside is that you need a 500W (recommended) step down converter. Still trying to source a light one - most of them are around the 3kg mark.
