Makita lxt405 or Hitachi kc18dbl Kit whats better
Hi all
Just wondering whether I should go blue or green and what people think is the better product?
here are links to the two items

Has anyone owned both makita and hitachi cordless and what did they find better
I have a hitachi 24 volt nicad rotary hammer which takes a whipping and has been a solid performer
although the fwd rev switch is a little stiff and had a 12 volt hitachi cordless years ago that I lost the charger too so never really got the flogging I wanted to give it.
On the other hand I used another tradies makita cordless to drill a 20mm hole in a bit of sheet metal (with a holesaw) only to find the handle snapped off from the head of the drill when the holesaw grabbed and the drill was spinning around like some kind of sick amusement ride at the show.
I understand this is not indictactive of all makita stuff as my ls1040 was and most probably always will be a piece of pure joy.Iit may well of been a home line makita drill as ive seen plasters and chippies on site use makita stuff hassle free for years.
Any info much appreciated
cheers Rileyp

Both good brands. I have Makita stuff myself which has been good. Hitachi is well regarded too.

Have the 451 and the lighter 452 in my Mak stable and happy with both of them. Aux handle for the 451 fastens onto the boss behind the chuck with a strap clamp and is plenty strong but won't damage the drill or housing.
If you get a kit, take a pic of the interior of the case before you disturb anything, so you know here everything goes. Won't lock down if you get something out of place and can waste a bit of time sorting through the possibilities to get it right.
Can't comment of Hitachi as I haven't had anything to do with them. If you have quality gear is the same voltage range already, I would tend to be lead by matching brand and batteries so they are interchangable.

I have the 451 from the Makita 4 piece kit and have had no issues. Plenty of power, hammer works well and batteries are great.
