Makita Router 3620 - Missing Collet
Anyone know where to get a new collet for this Router, I'm in Adelaide. I've had a bit of a look around on the net but everything I find seems to come up in the UK or not look quite right.
I'm probably still a bit confused as to which collet suits this router.
I'll probably also look at getting a fence attachment for it as well. Not sure what other accessories are 'must haves' for a router of this sort.
I've attached a couple of pictures of the router as it currently is with the missing collet.

Last time i was looking around for the bits for this i found a bunch of part numbers.
763615-1 < that seems to be the Collet Nut
763619-3 < and that seems to be the 3/8" collet cone.
763637-1 < that i think is the 1/4" collet cone
Guess you could probably get them from most of the Adelaide tool shops or online.

Only place i have found so far is norwest tool center in Sydney, they have call for price on most of the parts I'd like. But it looks cheap enough to get the new collet etc. They have a pretty diagram of the router and list those part numbers you mentioned too.

Makita's website for Australia
I have also sent an information request off to Makita about the accessories, as I too, want to know about accessories as there is no information on their website that I can find.
Cheers

Thanks Wendy, as mine is a little bit older it's not currently listed on the Makita website, but i'll be interested to hear how your enquiry about accessories goes.

By the by, managed to get the parts ordered through the local Gasweld, all but the straight guide which they couldn't locate in the catalouge.

I've got one of those, and I've still got the manual at home. Mine is an earlier one with the 1200w motor. Later ones are 1000w.
I use the 1/4", 3/8" and 8mm collets, and you can also get 6mm collets.
The guy behind the counter at the local Power Tool Centre told me I shouldn't be using 3/8" shaft router bits because they're not standard anymore. However I once broke of a 1/4" shaft bit (yeah I know, I shouldn't have been forcing it ) and as a 3/8" shaft has over twice the cross-sectional area of a 1/4" shaft, I figure that guy can stick his standards .
I'll have a look at the manual when I get home to see what part numbers are listed.
I've bought a few parts from toolpartsdirect in the States. They only ship within the States, but their website has exploded views of most power tools along with the part numbers, so may be worth a visit.
HTH.
