Picked these Planes up at an Auction
Sorry Guys/Girls,
I couldn't help myself, I had to have a gloat!! (Sorry Shedhand)
I visited an Auction this morning and as a result have finally managed to get my hands on some decent sized hand planes. As a bonus I also picked up Stanley #2 at a very very reasonable price.
I was quite surprised that I didn't get more competition from the other bidders, especially when it came to the Stanley #2 but from what I could see they were more interested in all of the ugly, ugly glass wares and china, oh well they're loss.
They could all use a little bit of work to clean up, especially the bull nose but I think I will be a very happy camper.
This is a list of whats in the pics:
*Stanley Bullnose
*Stanley #2
*Record #6
*Carter #7
Cheers,
Evan.

Good score. #2's are getting pricey.

Shedhand,
Holy crap! maybe I should sell it and put the money towards a TSC-10HB!!
From what I've researched it's a #2 smoothing plane. It's in pretty good condition, theres a small chip on the handle and a couple of small dings on the sole, but it's got most of it's Japanning. It just needs a good clean up and it will look a million bucks!! (OR apparently 500 bucks)

Tex
If you plan to sell the #2, and you want to get the best price, DO NOT TRY AND RESTORE IT!!!! You are better off selling it AS IS. At most, just wash off any crap. This is a collector plane and collectors prefer it original, that includes with all the rust and all.
Regards from Perth

Thanks for the info guys, I definately won't restore it.
Wow, that #1 is in nice nick, I guess the price says it all.
I was cleaning the #2 before and discovered that the top of the frog has been broken and rewelded. What a bugger, it's a pretty neat job but it's noticeable upon close inspection. Otherwise it cleaned up nicely with the years of dust dust removed. I was glad to see that the Japanning is in really god condition ie. It's only a little faded and none has peeled off, also there is almost no rust on it at all.
Cheers,
Evan

Nope still got it, it's such a nice plane it would be shame to sell it.
Unfortunately the hand grip is so small it isn't very practical.
What can I say, I'm a tool horder!
I did however regret it, for a while, when we recently moved house and I was forced to pack up the shed. It's better to be thought of as a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt!
