Default Assembly of Triton 2000 Workcentre

Hi there, we have a triton workcentre and triton saw, it has been in the shed collecting dust for quite sometime and now my 15 year old wants to start making things. I read through the assembly instructions and we pulled apart the table and saw to start off fresh so we knew what we were doing. We are totally frustrated as no matter how many times we try when it comes to putting the guard onto the zero setting, the position of the saw blade just does not allow it to, it would appear that one side always needs to be set at about 3mm, then when we sit the table over the saw the blade inevitably touches the guard. It would appear that for some reason the saw and blade will not sit in the assembly straight, it is on an angle. On closer examination I would say it has always been this way as there are marks on the table and guard where the saw has cut into them both when my husband previously used it - don't ask me why he would allow this to happen. It is really disappointing as no matter what adjusting we do it just will not fit within the table slot without the blade hitting it.

Would anybody out there have any ideas - I am hoping that it isn't something that can't be corrected, that would mean it was a lemon from the start .

I am in Bendigo, Victoria, if there is anybody out there with any advice we really would appreciate it.

    Many thanks, Kylee and Bailey

unfortunately I can't give you an answer to your problem but you mentioned that you have the assembly instruction manual.

Maybe you need to go back over that again and have a look at how to fit and align the saw in the chassis as it sounds like it is a saw alignment problem.

There is a Triton website and they have a video on how to assemble the 2000 workcentre, that may be worth watching, the website is listed below

    Triton Tools | Download Videos
(not sure if I allowed to copy the direct link to this site so I apologize in advance)

Hope this may be of some help for you until someone else may be able to give you a better solution

Thankyou for responding, we have gone over the manual and looked at the videos, it really shouldn't be difficult. We are taking the saw to our brother in law to see if it sits in his straight, if it doesn't then I guess we know what our problem is !

    Default Triton Work Center 2000

    Kylee

How frustrating that is. I had a similar problem with mine. Found that the fence arms were incorrectly stamped with the numbers. When Triton was still a going concern in Mudbourne, I rang them and they posted out a new set of fence arms. Still could not line anything up, wood always cut with a burn mark on one side. Workcentre sat in back shed for years. Each year i would get it out, have a go at aligning everything up. When I could not do it I would put it back.

On the Triton forum , one of the members asked was the table bent, and sure enough i found a dip of 3mm, across the middle. Useless, I gave it a whack with a rubber mallet, its not perfect and I am no wood worker, but it suits my need until I can afford to upgrade to a serious table saw.

    Check your table for flatness.

Thankyou for taking the time to read our problem. Last night we attended the Bendigo Wood Turners - Triton Club and are so grateful to the wonderful men there who spent the time to get our table and saw to work. Bailey and I are very excited about joining the Club at the next meeting and learning how to use our tools properly.
