they are the same. I have one, very powerful sander. The only downside is that I can never tell which orbit I am on.

Ha ha! Agreed! I thought it was just me being a newbie. It does a beautiful job though. My first job was sanding back a gross second hand dining room table my daughter was given for her new house only to discover it was lovely cherry underneath! It came up a treat.

It is a beautiful sander. I bought one 13 years ago. I must have built 100+ pieces of furniture out of it. I think one of the bearings is playing up that is why I am looking for a new one.

I bought the later version because the dust extractor port was easier to connect to compared to a Bosch I had. Quite a nice sander as far as they go, does the job well enough, wouldn't rave about it, sanders are a bit like toilet paper, functional but not something you are likely to discuss at a dinner party.

Some toilet papers are a bit more stronger and easier to use. some will leave your hand a big mass.

Could you let us know once you've worked out how to tell the obits apart then? You are twice as likely as any of us now. Where did you end up getting it from?

Spin it up with the trigger then let go... as it slows down you can plainly see whether its on the big or small orbit...

    Hi,

Hopefully I don't need to start a new thread, but I am looking for a ROS and am thinking about the Metabo's. What is the consensus regarding the SXE425? I realise it doesn't have a dual orbit and it is only 125mm which are super obvious. I am getting it initially to do the final step of paint removal on weatherboards (after infra red heat and scraping there is a tiny amount of powdery paint left), but i want a good sander which will be capable of producing fantastic finishes on smaller projects after this.

So is the 450 worth the extra hundred bucks?

    Cheers
