    Default Mini Jointer

Any seen / used one of these??

Tiny little jointing machine which would be ideal for trueing up guitar necks
Would save me a lot of time doin the job with router and table saw.
At that price I am finding it hard to resist the TAS which is setting in real bad right now.

    I had a Delta version
Ended up selling it, the bloody thing...
I guess, if all you are wanting to joint is small, short stuff, it may be ok..but you will really be limiting yourself.
Take this from someone who's had one, Id seriously be looking for something with a longer bed

I'm sorry, but all the link I'm getting is the Carbatec page that has a map of Australia and their stores

Would use this baby jointer for small work ie guitar necks around the 700mm or bass 900mm width of 3" max. I wouldnt use it for trimming up a 3 metre plank for sure. more intrested in the accuracy of the machine and wether i could pull a 8x2:x14 through it and get jointable edges. I would also be trueing up the face of guitar necks b4 glueing down the fretboard, truing up scarf joints in necks as well it looks ideal as i dont want to spend big bucks on machine i wont use much. I has little interest in bigger work. I might like go into makin jewlery boxes etc but big joinery jobs ?? just not into it

    Default Small Jointer

I've got one, its very usefull. I haven't yet used it for anything longer than a metre, all of my jointing requirements are less.

It fits well into a small shed, can be easily lifted and has its own chip collection.

If you can, take a straight edge with you and check the flatness of the tables. Mine is a little out at the left hand end, not too much of a drama.

Does it cut a good surface ready for glue up?? straight off the table??
Or do you need to touch it up with a plane.
I use a router to joint the pieces and its a real PIA

Dont worry I will be taking my 38" Veritas straight edge along when I buys it

The slower you move the timber the better the cut. I find the finish excellent, ready for a fine sand.

I have made a small nick in the blades cuasing a small ridge (which easily sands out) so I am about to find out how easy it is to change blades.

You can see the machining defect in the photo, I bought it in the box without looking. I should take it back.

Would you be able to clamp two bits up straight off the machine for an almost invisble glue line??

Thats the kind of finish I gets using the router. Put em past the router, onto the bench, slap on the glue and cramp em up. Thats what I am after. If i was wasn't joinng the boards I wouldnt use one.

I guess thats why they call it jointer ?? So you can glue boards together??

I'm off to shed to see if I can figure out where it will go....if i get one

I wont be copping any nicked blades for sure....or machining defects like that man o man
i will be checkin over b4 i leave

I also have the Delta version. It's very good at what it does, which is joint short boards. It does give a good result, but as others have said, you are limited in the size you can handle.
