Yowser!
I actually stumbled on that part of your website a few days ago.
What were you doing? Cutting a filler to size with a circular saw?I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Seeing stuff like that reminds me of why I'm scared of the bloody things.
Hope the thumb comes back 100%.

well you are one lucky prick to still have that thumb, and it looks in not too bad nick considering.
I always used to just cut fillers by first scribing them to cut either the melamine, laminate 2-pac or whatever might chip, and then cutting with a jigsaw to 0.5mm (whilst the piece is clamped, ie cut from one end- then turn around) and then using a sharp hand plane to finish it off.
Installing was always a prick though, and I know how you can cut corners when under pressure.
I must be a pussy though, you would never catch me using a circular saw like that.
Anyway, I'm sure you have beat yourself up enough about it to have learned a lesson.....I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

Click to enlarge picture?? no thanks... the small one is just fine.
I think you now hold the nastiest injury title.
You are the first that I have seen to post a cut off and reatach post.
It is now your solem duty to post the " it could have been worse check out mine" post to all injury threads
And the keep your fingers above the sole plate comment.
OUCH!!Any thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

Ouch!
I'm sorry but I'm going to say it - you really should've known better! Unfortunately this is a common injury in the building trade, and usually by someone who should know better. In some cases it's accompanied by a nasty gash to the thigh as the saw kicks back into the leg. Hope it's not throbbing too much and that you get most/all of your function back.

 Oh dear!!!
Then I'm in twice as much trouble, journeyman Mick.
Chopping off 2 but getting 1 back on, I get credit for that?
I know exactly how you feel renomart, my best wishes to you in your recovery.
Tis' funny you know , this Triton Saw that I inherited from my Dad,
it chopped off his thumb too and he got it replanted successfuly.
But I don't think my Son will inherit it from me.
I will post pic's if you want, with the whole sorry tale too. :eek:Woodgrub

Despite all the good advice in hindsight, it was a shocking injury. It looks to be recovering OK cosmetically (3 rd pic). Are you able to use it much yet?
